China produces many incredible black teas which can easily be overlooked by the more popular Chinese green and oolong teas. Keemun Maofeng is a famous high grade Chinese black Tea from the Anhui Province. The Keemun area is not far away from the famouns Huang Shan (Yellow Mountains) and is made up by four growing areas (Dongzhi, Guichi, Shitai, Yixian). Many small rivers and springs run throught this area, nurishing the soil and growing tea bushes with a unique combination of nutrients. This tea is harvested earlier than other and special picking of two leaves and a bud. The delicate twisted strips yield a rich, full flavor with characteristic stone fruit and slightly smoky notes in the aroma and a gentle, malty, non-astringent taste reminiscent of unsweetened cocoa. It is lighter and sweeter than other Keemun teas.
