Genmaicha is typically made of Bancha, which is a lower grade Sencha and paired with toasted brown rice. Bancha can taste stronger and more bitter than Sencha, to avoid bitterness we only use high qulaity Sencha leaves. The first infusion is quite rich but not stong or bitter the taste will remind you of popcorn, nutty and slightly grassy. The leaves are carefully deep steamed to obtain the much loved lighter flavor. Then, these leaves are blended with toasted brown rice (genmai). No flavor change as this Japanese green tea cools.
