Taiping houkui is one of the ten famous teas from Chinese lore. This tea grows in a protected area bordering a pristine lake north of the Huangshan (villages of Houkeg) in tprovince of Anhui. The tea dates back to the Ming Dynasty and was harvested for emperors during the Qing Dynasty. This special tea is one of the only green teas which is both pan-fired and basket-fired, blotted in between firings with rice paper. A wonderful delicate earthy, rich, vegetable flavor with a toasty aroma.
