GABA stands for gamma-amino butyric acid, an amino acid that is one of the main neurotransmitters in your central nervous system. Neurotransmitters help nerve signals to travel between cells (neurons). The GABA chemical functions to prevent over-excitement of the nervous system by controlling the movement of signals between neurons.
Gaba teas are made by exposing the leaves alternately to air and nitrogen over a number of hours during oxidation.
GABA tea is said to have a high level of health benefits:
- helps with depression and anxiety
- calms the nervous system and relieves stress
- helps manage insomnia
- helps reduces high blood pressure
Once brewed, the color of the tea liquid is dark gold, and exudes an obvious floral and fruity aroma. A strong scent of baked sweet potatoes is also present. The first sip is extremely sweet and smooth. The second round of brewing features strong notes of sweet potatoes, and fruit sugar.
