Japan 2022 — Tea ceremonies, tea houses, and a tea field

Japan 2022 was a trip that took us deeper into Japanese tea culture than any before. We had the privilege of attending several private tea ceremonies, where every movement, every breath was part of an ancient ritual. In the quiet rooms of Kyoto's tea houses, one thing becomes clear: tea here is more than a drink — it is a form of mindfulness, of hospitality, of lived aesthetics. Every bowl of matcha, carefully prepared and served with a delicate wagashi, is a moment of stillness.  We visited several tea houses — from the classically traditional to modern interpretations that blend ancient customs with contemporary architecture.  A highlight was visiting a tea field — finally not just the finished cup, but the plant itself, the soil, the hands that harvest. It is this connection we want to carry forward with VestaTea.  This trip deepened our understanding — of Sencha, Gyokuro, Matcha, but above all of the spirit with which tea is prepared and enjoyed in Japan.
