Description

Red Jade, also known as Hong Yu or Ruby Tea, is one of Taiwan’s most celebrated black tea cultivars. Developed through decades of research by Taiwan’s Tea Research and Extension Station (TRES), this remarkable variety combines a Burmese large-leaf tea plant with a native wild Taiwanese tea tree, resulting in a tea with extraordinary depth, character, and aroma. The beautifully twisted leaves display deep ebony tones with subtle ruby highlights and already reveal the tea’s signature fragrance before brewing — a captivating combination of cooling mint, warm spices, and delicate woody notes. Once infused, the liquor shines in a brilliant deep ruby-red color, clear and glowing like polished jade. The first infusion is intensely aromatic, opening with the unmistakable freshness that makes Red Jade so unique. Cooling mint notes are elegantly layered with soft hints of cinnamon and gentle sweet spice. As the tea continues to develop through multiple infusions, its complexity becomes increasingly pronounced. The refreshing mint character deepens and blends seamlessly with warming spice notes, while a smooth natural sweetness emerges, reminiscent of caramelized sugar and ripe stone fruits. In later infusions, elegant woody undertones appear, adding richness, warmth, and a refined lingering finish. Balanced between freshness and warmth, sweetness and spice, this exceptional Taiwanese black tea offers a deeply comforting and memorable tea experience with remarkable complexity and elegance. The tea has passed the pesticide residual inspection by SGS Company.
