Taiwanese Native Black Tea, also known as Cang Ya, is an exceptionally rare indigenous tea variety originating from the mountainous forests surrounding Taiwan’s famous Sun Moon Lake region. Considered one of Taiwan’s true heirloom teas, this unique cultivar has grown naturally for generations in cool, mist-covered mountain environments where rich soil, dense forest air, and constant humidity shape its unmistakable character. Even today, authentic Cang Ya remains highly limited in production and is still carefully handcrafted using traditional methods. The twisted dark leaves reveal deep black and chestnut tones and release a delicate floral fragrance reminiscent of wild roses. Once infused, the tea opens with vibrant aromas of dark berries, blueberries, blackcurrants, ripe plum, and sweet grape. The liquor glows in a brilliant golden-red color — bright, clear, and full of warmth. On the palate, the tea is remarkably smooth and layered, with a luscious texture that recalls ripe fruit preserves and natural fruit pectin. As the infusions continue, the sweetness becomes increasingly pronounced while the mouthfeel grows softer, silkier, and more rounded. What makes this tea truly captivating is its balance between power and elegance. The deeper fruity and floral notes intensify over multiple infusions while maintaining a refined softness throughout.
